Giovanni Amendola is an economist specialised in regulatory and competition policies in electronic communications. He has held various senior management positions in TIM, Wind Telecomunicazioni and STET Group, in charge, among others, of national and European regulatory affairs, regulatory strategies and regulatory support to foreign subsidiaries.
He was also TIM's representative in Chief Policy & Regulatory Group of GSMA for several years.
 
Before holding the above-mentioned positions in the telecommunications sector, he carried out research activities at ENEA in the area of the economics of innovation and technological change. In the period he was also a member of the group of national experts on science and technology indicators set up at the OECD.
 
In recent years he has been an Independent Director in the Board of Directors of Flash Fiber, in charge of verifying and monitoring the compliance with the undertakings assumed by TIM and Fastweb and approved by the Antitrust Authority within the I799 procedure, and he has participated as Senior Expert in the support project to the Israeli Ministry of Communications financed by the European Union and coordinated by the Italian national regulatory authority.
 
He holds a degree in Statistics and Demographic Sciences from "La Sapienza" University of Rome and a PhD in Science and Technology Policy Studies from the University of Sussex. He has been a speaker at national and international scientific and public policy conferences and has published extensively in the fields of industrial economics, international economics and regulatory policy.
